PRESENTATION OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR MEDICAL AND EDUCATIONAL NEEDS TO PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (PWDs)

On the 19th of January, 2024, the Akatsi North District Assembly presented financial support to 13 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) made up of 6 females and 7 males in a program designed to support their medical and educational needs towards inclusive development and social welfare.

These PWDs had applied for support through the PWD component of the DACF which were ensured that those in genuine need received the financial assistance approved for them

Cheque Presentation:

The highlight of the program was the presentation of cheques to the 13 identified PWDs. This took place at the Akatsi North District Assembly hall. The program was attended by Hon. Simon Peter Kofi Ofosu, the District Chief Executive and the District Coordinating Director (DCD). Other dignitaries included.

The cheques were presented by the District Chief Executive (DCE), the District Coordinating Director (DCD) and the Disability Fund Management Committee chairman. Presenting the cheques, the DCE pleaded with beneficiaries to make sure the investment is not in vain especially those in education sector to study hard and complete their studies successfully.

Medical Support

The funds provided aim to alleviate the financial burden on PWDs who require medical treatment, rehabilitation, or ongoing care. This reflects the assembly’s commitment to promoting health equity and ensuring that individuals with disabilities have access to necessary healthcare services.

Educational Assistance:

The educational component of the support signifies the importance placed on empowering PWDs through education. The cheques will contribute to covering educational expenses, including tuition fees, supplies, and any necessary accommodations, fostering a more inclusive and accessible educational system.

The presentation reflects the District Assembly’s effort by the local government to address the unique challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. The commitment to supporting both medical and educational needs underscores the assembly’s dedication to fostering inclusivity and social welfare to residents.
